A cozy little corner of the internet curated by a grizzled geezer with a bunch of curious old computers
Decades of hoarding
collecting old computers has resulted in a pretty obtuse
selection of stuff hanging about the place, and they're more or
less all in functional condition tucked in the 0.5 bedroom the
land agent insisted the glorified broom closet at the end of my
hallway is. This page serves as a snapshot of what was in the
room on the day this site gets updated.
The inspiration to build this site came from the work of Mark and the lads over at The Serial Port who lovingly restored a gorgeous Cobalt RaQ 3, which is exactly where this site is hosted. If they could go to all the work of restoring the web hosting hardware of the era, least I could do is use web design software of the era and make something to put on it!
The site is designed entirely within Microsoft FrontPage 97. At this time, pending receipt of another piece of late 90s tech, images are all rescaled and reformatted using Microsoft Image Composer 1.0 (hence the massive dithering!).
The software is run on and all site uploads are done from my Compaq Presario 7222. Being a computer from 1996 does not prohibit you from being useful!
To find out more about the Cobalt RaQ 3, head on over to The Serial Port or alternately, The RaQ homepage where you can sign the guestbook!
